Hi. What a wonderful forum. Hope you guys can help me. The whole family is coming over for Christmas, and I will have to cater. As if the big number isn’t daunting enough, the menu is a bit of a nightmare at the moment. The reason? My cousin and her husband have turned vegan and I don’t have a clue what to cook (or not cook!) for them. Vegetarians are still fine, but vegans! They’re so holier than thou about their new diet, don’t even know how to approach the subject with them.

Hi Gaby – Tough one, but I would really expect them to come with some dishes themselves that they are happy to eat. I’m a vegetarian myself, and I always bring along at least two things I can eat so the hostess doesn’t have to worry.
Thanks. I think I’ll try that approach. Maybe I’ll give it another spin and tell them that bringing a few of their own dishes will also be an opportunity for us to taste them. I will prepare a big fresh salad anyway, as I love veggies myself. Will just leave the salad dressing etc on the side, because it could include stuff they don’t eat…
